Dignity and self-determination
Respect individual choices, strengths, communication needs and personal goals.
An independent nonprofit bringing families, advocates, professionals and community partners together around neurodiversity and inclusion.
Stark Sensory Center for Neurodiversity was founded in Stark County to respond to a need that spans childhood, adolescence and adulthood: access to connection, understanding, practical guidance and opportunities for meaningful participation.
Our approach centers the voices and experiences of neurodivergent people and their families. We value collaboration across families, providers, educators, employers and community organizations, while recognizing that every individual's priorities and support needs are different.
SCN empowers neurodivergent individuals and their families across the lifespan through compassionate family navigation, inclusive social and recreational opportunities, caregiver support, practical education, and pathways to meaningful community participation and greater independence.
A Stark County community where neurodivergent individuals are valued, families can find meaningful support, and inclusion is reflected in everyday opportunities—not simply stated as an aspiration.
Respect individual choices, strengths, communication needs and personal goals.
Listen first, offer useful information and collaborate without assuming one path fits everyone.
Focus on removing barriers to participation in community life.
Build responsible governance, financial stewardship and partnerships that earn public trust.
Recognize that support needs, friendships and opportunities evolve over time.
Work with existing organizations rather than duplicating services unnecessarily.
SCN is an Ohio nonprofit recognized by the IRS as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3). We are independent of Sensory Escape, a separate organization focused on pediatric intervention services.
SCN is establishing its governing Board and financial infrastructure. We are currently welcoming Board candidates, prospective founding supporters and potential partners. Program descriptions on this site reflect our intended direction and are not announcements of services currently open for enrollment.
